Matchup:
Orlando welcomes the
Gwinnett Gladiators to the Amway Center tonight for
the first time since November 11. The Solar Bears are
coming off a 6-1 victory over the Evansville IceMen last
night, in a contest that saw the Solar Bears get out to an
early lead and never look back. C
Ryan Cruthers and D Michael Wilson each scored in the first
period, and F Derrick Burnett increased the lead to 3-0 a
little over seven minutes into the second. The IceMen
answered in the middle frame, but Cruthers notched his
second goal of the game late in the second stanza to put
Orlando up 4-1 heading into the third. Orlando added two
markers in the final period for the 6-1 win. The Gladiators
were off last night, but fell 5-4 to the Florida Everblades
on Tuesday night. Gwinnett heavily outshot Florida in the
contest, but an opportunistic Everblades team made the most
of their chances to earn the win. The Solar Bears are
1-5-1-0 against Gwinnett this season, earning their lone
win over the Gladiators in their last meeting with a 4-3
victory on January 25.
Solar Bears Notes:

night, stopping 35 of 36 shots to earn the win... F Derrick

up three points (2 goals, 1 assist) for his sixth multiple
point game this season... Former Solar Bear Mike Liambas
was named the first star of the game for the Milwaukee
Admirals (AHL) on Sunday when he scored the game winning
goal in a 3-1 victory over the Abbotsford Heat. Since being
loaned to Milwaukee, Liambas has played six games scoring
one goal and earning 26 penalty minutes (PIM)... G Mike
Brodeur, D Josh Caron, F Dan Dries, D Sean Lorenz, and F
