Game Preview: Solar Bears vs. Evansville IceMen TonightOrlando Begins Three Games in Three Nights at Home
Matchup:
The Solar Bears and IceMen come together tonight for the
final time in the 2012-13 season, the first for both teams
in the ECHL. Orlando is looking to get back to their
winning ways on home ice after suffering back-to-back
losses against the South
Carolina Stingrays last weekend.
The Solar Bears kicked off the weekend with a
come-from-behind 4-3 overtime win over the Stingrays, but
were unable to replicate those results in the final two
games. The IceMen were in action for two games last Friday
and Saturday, earning two straight wins over the Fort Wayne
Komets in a home-and-home series. Going into the weekend,
Evansville had won just one time in their previous 10
games, going 1-8-1-0 over that span. Orlando and Evansville
have met one time previously this season, with Evansville
earning a 5-1 win over the Solar Bears on January 4 in
Evansville.Solar Bears Notes: Orlando is playing their fourth game of an eight game homestand tonight. They will be in action tomorrow and Friday against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. both nights, and will close the homestand with a pair of games against the Reading Royals on February 28 and March 2... G Patrick Killeen has played nine straight games for Orlando. The only one of those contests he did not start was on February 9 in Florida... Former Solar Bear Mike Liambas was named the first star of the game for the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) on Sunday when he scored the game winning goal in a 3-1 victory over the Abbotsford Heat. Since being loaned to Milwaukee, Liambas has played six games scoring one goal and earning 26 penalty minutes (PIM)... D Michael Wilson, who returned to the Solar Bears last weekend after a stint in the AHL, is tied for sixth among defensemen with 23 assists... G Mike Brodeur, D Josh Caron, F Dan Dries, D Sean Lorenz, and F Dale Mahovsky remain on the 21-day IR.
C Todd Robinson leads the league with 51 assists and is
seventh with 55 points... LW Josh Beaulieu is tied for
second in the ECHL with 11 power play goals... The
IceMen are fifth on the penalty kill on the road at
83.8 percent (98-for-117)... Evansville is 8th on the
power play at 19.9 percent (44-for-221) and 5th on the
penalty kill at 84.5 percent (224-for-265)... C Todd
Robinson leads the IceMen in assists (51) and points
(55). LW Josh Beaulieu leads the team in goals
