Orlando, FL - The Solar Bears trailed 3-0 early in the
second period but came storming back to take down the Florida
Everblades 4-3 in a shootout in front of 7,242 fans at the
Amway Center on Friday night.
Both sides had their opportunities in the opening frame,
and Florida converted late in the period. A quick 2-on-1
chance saw F Matthew Pistilli find LW Matchieu Roy open in
a front of the net, and he redirected the puck past G
Patrick Killeen to give Florida a 1-0 lead with 4:58 left
in the frame.

Pistilli increased Florida's lead to 2-0 less than five
minutes into the second period. F Corey Trivino took the
puck into the zone and dropped it off to Pistilli, who
one-timed the shot into the top right corner. Under two
minutes later, at 6:12 of the second stanza, D Olivier
Dame-Malka fired a shot from the slot that beat Killeen
into the bottom corner of the net and put Florida up 3-0.
Orlando started their comeback when F Ryan Ginand wristed a
shot past G Pat Nagle 2:02 later to put the Solar Bears on
the board. Before the end of the period, D James Sanford
took a pass from RW Chris Lawrence and one-timed it into
the back of the net to make the score 3-2 at the end of the
second frame.
Orlando knotted the game up at 3-3 when F Michael Neal
redirected a pass from Ginand through Nagle's five hole for
a 5-on-3 goal at 6:34 of the third period. 60 minutes was
not enough to decide a winner, and after a scoreless
overtime the game went into a shootout. Lawrence and F Dan
Dries struck for the Solar Bears while Killeen stopped all
four shots he faced to give Orlando the 4-3 win over
Florida.
